On October 16, 2006, ZOLL began shipping all models of the ZOLL M Series® defibrillator with software changes that comply with the 2005 AHA/ERC Guidelines. Software upgrades for most older M Series models are also now available. (See Determining Software Compatibility to determine if your M Series model can be upgraded). The new software upgrade will allow users to utilize configurable menu options to support the Guidelines’ focus on improving the quality of CPR and minimizing interruptions. New configurable options include:
- For M Series AED and Advisory defibrillators, users can configure the defibrillator to prompt for a CPR interval prior to the first analysis.
- The duration of the CPR interval is configurable from 1 to 4 minutes
- The number of stacked shocks is configurable to be 1 or 3 shocks
- The prompt to check pulse can be configured ON or OFF
- A prompt to Perform CPR has been added after each single shock
Determining Software Compatibility
The M Series Guidelines Upgrade Kit is compatible with all M Series with software versions of 30.00 or greater. To verify your current software version, simply power the unit on and the version will display briefly on the bottom right hand corner of the display. In general, M Series defibrillators shipped after January 2001 will most likely be at a software version that is compatible with the M Series Guidelines Upgrade Kit.
All M Series defibrillators ordered on or after October 3, 2005 qualify for a Guidelines Guarantee Upgrade Kit at no charge, PN 7777-3875. This can be ordered by emailing or faxing the attached M Series Guidelines Upgrade form.
M Series defibrillators purchased before October 3, 2005 that have a software revision of 30.00 or greater can be upgraded for $210 by ordering the Guidelines Upgrade Kit, PN 7771-3875.
