ZOLL To Showcase AutoPulse And R Series at 2008 ENA Scientific Assembly

September 24, 2008CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, today announced that it will display its range of resuscitation products—including the AutoPulse® Automated Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump and the ZOLL R Series® Code-Ready defibrillator—in booth 718 at the 2008 ENA Scientific Assembly September 25-27 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“The ZOLL R Series features exclusive technology that sets a new standard for simplicity and operational readiness, which will help improve in-hospital resuscitation efforts,” said Richard A. Packer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL.  “And our AutoPulse delivers automatic chest compressions to circulate blood to the hearts and brains of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims.  It moves more blood more effectively than manual compressions, thereby providing the best possible patient care.”

AutoPulse:  Consistent, High-Quality Compressions

AutoPulse helps provide the consistent chest compressions called for by the 2005 American Heart Association Guidelines. It is an automated, portable device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest in an uninterrupted “hands-free” manner, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during cardiac arrest. Additionally, it offers the benefit of freeing up clinicians to focus on other life-saving interventions.

ZOLL R Series:   Simple, Smart, Ready

The ZOLL R Series is a Code-Ready device that is simple, smart, and ready to use. It offers a OneStep system to simplify and speed up deployment of pacing and defibrillation therapy. It also offers smart tools to help clinicians improve CPR performance, which is important since more than half of in-hospital codes involve non-shockable rhythms and, in such cases, the only treatment is high-quality CPR with minimal interruptions.

The R Series can also verify the condition and expiration date of the electrode set. All of this testing occurs without disconnecting electrodes or paddles, or requiring additional equipment to test shock delivery. The system provides a printed or electronic log to alert hospital personnel of any concerns in advance of a code. A simple green checkmark indicates that the R Series is fully ready for use.

In addition to resuscitation products, ZOLL will host a range of related activities at booth #718:

ZOLL Match Game

Attendees visiting the ZOLL booth will be given a game sheet that they will take to five stations for a short demo.  At the conclusion of each demo they will be given a scratch card to add to the sheet.  If they match three products on their scratch cards, they will be entered into a daily drawing for an iPod Touch.   All participants will receive a free gift.

CPR Challenge

ZOLL also invites exhibition attendees to participate in the CPR Challenge using the AED Pro® and AED Plus® defibrillators. Every hour, ZOLL will award prizes to attendees with the highest percentage of compressions in target (i.e., best rate and depth of chest compressions) that would be effective in helping maintain blood flow to the brain and heart of a cardiac arrest victim.

ZOLL St. Bernard

ZOLL’s popular rescue dog will also be available for ENA memento photos with attendees.  Participants will be able to download the photo from ZOLL’s website on their return home.
