Wednesday, May 12, 2004 – CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL), a manufacturer of non-invasive cardiac resuscitation devices, will display innovative technology “firsts” in its booth (#2149) at the 2004 National Teaching Institute™ and Critical Care Exposition (NTI). Attended by more than 6,000 critical care nurses, NTI will take place May 18 through May 20 in Orlando, Florida.

· ZOLL CodeNet: First System to Manage Code Event Data In Hospitals
CodeNet™ is the first complete electronic system for recording, synchronizing, and analyzing code information, giving code teams unprecedented control over their resuscitation programs. It consists of CodeNet Writer™, which is a Pocket PC-based PDA application used to capture data during a cardiac arrest event, and CodeNet Central™, which is database management software that resides on a desktop or laptop computer. Code event data that is recorded on the PDA during a code is then synchronized with defibrillator data, and transferred to a computer for generation of case and aggregate reports.

“CodeNet allows our nurses to spend more time with patients and less time with paperwork,” said Kathy D. Duncan, R.N., Director of Critical Care Services at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. “CodeNet does a better job capturing data in a more accurate, sequential, and timely manner. We now have more comprehensive code event records than ever before. This extensive information allows us to do a more thorough analysis of our resuscitation process so that we can improve patient care.”

· AutoPulse Resuscitation System
The clinicians who use the AutoPulse™, manufactured by ZOLL’s strategic partner Revivant Corporation, call it the single most important development in treating sudden cardiac arrest in the past 30 years. The AutoPulse is a revolutionary automated cardiac-assist device that provides consistent and optimal chest compressions. When compared to conventional CPR in animal studies, the AutoPulse provided normal blood flow to the heart and brain, and increased survival.

· ZOLL AED Plus™ Automated External Defibrillator
The AED Plus is a worthy choice for hospitals looking for a comprehensive AED to help non-clinical lay rescuers administer defibrillation and CPR in non-clinical areas of the hospital, or as part of community outreach programs. It is the only AED that helps lay rescuers achieve the recommended depth and rate of chest compressions during CPR. This real-time feedback mechanism makes the ZOLL AED Plus the only AED that helps rescuers with all collapsed victims, including those who only benefit from CPR. Since the AED Plus supports the full Chain of Survival, and helps lay rescuers assess and treat every sudden cardiac arrest victim, it is the only Full-Rescue AED available today.

The AED Plus has a unique one-piece pre-connected electrode, known as the CPR-D-padz™, which has an unmatched four-year shelf life, twice that of any other pad on the market. The CPR-D-padz includes a hand-placement locator and accurately measures chest compressions, during CPR. Audio feedback tells a rescuer, “Push Harder” or “Good Compressions.” The ZOLL AED Plus is the only AED to use cost-effective, consumer lithium batteries that are easily replaceable and can last as long as five years.

In addition to its technology “firsts,” ZOLL will also display a range of proven resuscitation solutions.

· The ZOLL M Series™ Line of Defibrillators/Monitors/Pacemakers
The M Series defibrillator, ZOLL’s best-selling device, has been selected as the standard in leading healthcare facilities around the world. The M Series defibrillator combines the clinical superiority of ZOLL’s Rectilinear Biphasic™ waveform with portability, ease-of-use, and a vivid screen display. In addition, M Series defibrillators use ZOLL’s patented pacing technology, which has been clinically shown to offer superior capture rates, provide lower mean capture thresholds, and allow better patient tolerance to external pacing.

ZOLL will also show its M Series CCT, designed specifically for critical care transport needs. In a single portable unit, the M Series CCT brings together ZOLL’s superior biphasic defibrillation, external pacing, and complete monitoring capabilities, including pulse oximetry, end-tidal carbon dioxide, non-invasive blood pressure, and invasive blood pressure and temperature monitoring.

“Since 1984, ZOLL’s products have helped nurses care for their patients,” said Richard A. Packer, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL. “CodeNet, the AutoPulse, and the AED Plus extend our commitment to providing resuscitation tools that help nurses manage information and provide optimal care that helps improve survival from cardiac arrest.”
